Where's the love?
Dear Fitblrs,
I’ve wrestled with if I should write this post or not, but I’ve always been honest here and I have to say what’s been on my mind lately.
I haven’t felt much love in the community for me the last few weeks. I started this blog for ME, but over the years I’ve come to rely on this community for love and support.
This next month I will truly have A LOT...

Not surprised, I was out of town for 4 days and am behind on my training. However TONIGHT I RUN.
Marathon Fever
Is it crazy that I’m thinking of registering for the Marine Corps Marathon in October??
I keep seeing all this Marine Corps talk on here, but registration is before I even run my 1st Marathon!
Lenten Challenge
Last year I started “adding” things as opposed to giving up things to challenge me during Lent.
Last year I added - making my bed. And I’ve still kept up with it. In a year I’ve probably only skipped a handful of days.
This year I am taking on a Planking Challenge. I need to work on my core and I thinking working on increasing my maximum plank time would be a good...
Stella needs her groove back
I am tiiiiiiired.
Wrapping up this last month of work, packing, moving stuff, and marathon training is exhausting me.
Less than a month to go. I need to stay focused.
I woke up with horrible shin splints today - I blame a terrible hotel treadmill. I decided to rest and will get my runs in WThF and Sun.
I know running well help me destress, but I have found myself at max stress capacity...
In transit
I’m writing this while waiting to fly back down to Alabama. I spent the weekend in the DC area getting acclimated to my soon to be office and campus. I also apartment hunted like whoa.
It was an exhausting long weekend, but very productive. I decided on a condo with an awesome girl in Alexandria, VA near Old Town and the Huntington Metro.
I also squeezed in my training runs, but had to...
Multitask
Just ran 8 miles* while talking to 2 of my best friends on speaker phone.
My pace was closer to 12 min/mi than 11 min/mi but I did get to catch up with them both after a crazy few weeks. They were both impressed (as was I at my ability to talk and run)!
Tomorrow evening I fly to Virginia to do some prelim new job stuff and apartment hunt!
*with this run I surpassed my 200th mile of 2012 :D
Nothing like perplexing a physician
I went to a “Healthy Tigers” appointment today. I went to my first appointment in Oct 2010 and then one in Nov 2011 (but only got blood work). I had appointment today for blood work and body composition (like I did in Oct 2010).
I had high hopes for my data since I’m neck deep in marathon training and nearly the lowest weight I’ve ever been.
Not the case. In fact I am...

This Week 176.6
I blame all the sweets yesterday. I couldn’t turn them ALL down. However I still find myself shocked and thrilled that I’m comfortably in the 170s. Every time I’ve previous been here it’s been fleeting.
I did conduct an interesting weight experiment on Sunday before my 19 miler.
I weighted 176.0 before my run.
Then I weight 174.4...
5 weeks
5 weeks from this very moment I will be running the LA Marathon!!
Marathon Mini-Update
From the ABC2 lady:
“We haven’t finalized a location yet, but we will be having a celebratory lunch on Saturday, March 17th at 12:30. I will let you know as soon as the location has been picked! It’s open to our runners and their family and friends.”
No word yet if I’ll be seated on David lap or not, but I hope to hear something soon about an official meeting with him....

1/2
Today’s my half birthday and I am scheduled to run 13 miles, but I’m adding the .1 so I can run a half marathon on my half birthday!
*it’s 70 degrees here today?! umm it’s February, not August!

Drowning In Drool
You know what the best part of all my insane marathon training miles is… How hard I’ve been sleeping at night!
Update
His people are sending David my email - the direct quote from the ABC2 lady was “My contact is going to pass your story on to David :) “
OMFG
Please donate to support me, David and ABC2!
Getting to meet the man who started it all...
THIS JUST HAPPENED:
I got an email from a project manager at ABC2 - the charity team I’m running on for the LA Marathon. ABC2 is the charity team that David Cook (from American Idol - aka the love my my life) is running on and have worked with for years.
The email simply asked for my shirt size for a team shirt and an address where to send it. However they sent a previous email asking for...
Marathon Training Thoughts...
My dedication and drive towards this goal is beyond comparison.
I’ve never felt stronger, fitter, or sexier in my life.
I feel like the world is mine for the taking.

This Week: 179.9
Thank goodness I’m back in the 170s - even if just barely. I think last week was water weight from my impending shark week.
I’d really love to 171 by the marathon which would put me in the HEALTHY BMI range.

Spin Virgins
Last week my friend Audra came to spin for the first time and today my grad student came to class with me. I love it! I makes me push even harder because I’m a competitive show off.
How to NOT negative split
I had big plans for my 18 mile run yesterday. I drove 45 minutes to this beautiful River Walk where I’ve run 2 races before. The first 9 miles felt great. Shortly after mile 9 I walked for a GU break and all of a sudden I get an excruciating side stitch/cramp.
Splits
Mile 1 - 10:11
Mile 2 - 10:31
Mile 3 - 10:28
Mile 4 - 11:02
Mile 5 - 10:57
Mile 6 - 10:31
Mile 7 - 11:21
Mile 8 -...
I think I can, I think I can
18 miles done. The first 9 were stellar. The last 9 were not thanks to a surprise visit from aunt flow, cramps and side stitches. I hated every second of the last 9 sloooooow miles, but did em.
Prayers and Good Vibes Please!
The job I interviewed for a few weeks ago just called my boss for a reference check (higher education moves sloooow sometimes). He was on the phone for like a half hour - he told me he gave them a glowing report. FINGERS CROSSED.
Rub Down
You what I might miss most about having a boyfriend…I lost having a personal masseuse at my beck and call!
My poor feet miss their regular massages.
At least I have IcyHot and some cozy socks to help…
If you set your mind to it, you can do it. AND Yes, I am talking to YOU!...

Happy Birthday Pre!

Today is the birthday of Steve Prefontaine (1951 - 1975) an American middle and long-distance runner who helped inspire the “running boom”.

RAGE!!!!!
I knew I was going to see a number like this. I can see that my belly looks a bit fuller. I don’t know what’s up.
Apparently running 33 miles this past week hasn’t been enough. I’m not eating my face off, in fact I’m pretty much eating the same as I always eat.
I have 36 miles to run this week. I’m taking...
