“Boom! 14 miles! Consider this text your hi-5, handshake and medal.”
– Post run text from my friend Rachel who I met up with yesterday and was lamenting over how running far outside of a race format would be anticlimactic. Little did I know the sense of accomplishment for a personal distance record still tasted as sweet without all the pomp and circumstance of a race!

Boo-yah
14 miles are in the books! I ran by the beach again. Only had 1 pee stop/take off my long sleeve undershirt. I ran the board walk 2 miles out and back then a parallel side street for 3 miles out and back then finally the boardwalk again out and back. It was 50 degrees and beautiful out - NY weather has been pretty mild since I’ve been here which was a total blessing! I was feeling really...

Today: 184.0 Yuck. I was not in control last week. Especially when it came to sweets. I’ve gotten a grip this week. It just goes to show you that you can’t lose weight on exercise alone. I’ve stuck to my miles and training, but my diet sucked.

Slap yo ass!
I ran 9 miles back at the beach on the boardwalk this afternoon, however it was 20 degrees colder today. I had to slap my own ass every so often whilst running to circulate blood! I also has to pee under the boardwalk since all the bathrooms were closed early. I’m classy like that. I need to start primping for Midnight Mass tonight. I’m not a practicing Catholic anymore, but...

Checking in!
I have been a traveling fool this week. I enjoyed my time in Charlotte and Pennsylvania visiting friends while en route to New York.  I’ve found time to run while at home and the weather has been lovely which is awesome. I ran 6 miles on the boardwalk yesterday and I plan on doing my 9 miles tomorrow back there too.  I’m trying to keep my eating under control, but it’s hard. I...

12 interesting miles
This was by no means my best run, but it was interesting. I managed to get a sunburn in DECEMBER. Thanks 60+ degree weather in Alabama. I got honked/waved at by a creepy guy whilst running I later got a tumbs up from a less creepy guy at a light whilst crossing the street. My local crossfit place was doing a “Nightmare Before Christmas Throwdown” challenge today and it happened to...

everytime
I really was worn out today and didn’t feel like running my 3 miles. I told myself I could do them tomorrow. Instead I dragged myself out with the dog and banged them out. I never regret going, but I always regret not going! It’s been true EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

The Different Types Of People You See At The Gym
From Thought Catalog obvi There are a few types of people that are always at the gym. I will explain these people, and your appropriate response should be to giggle silently while nodding in agreement. The Girl You Want To Look Like. Hey, how’s it going? What am I doing? Oh, you know, nothing, just maintaining my perfectly sculpted abs and extremely rare, genetically magical metabolism. I...

WIW - WOOOO Edition
Last week: 183 This week: 181.2 Change: -1.8 Praise Jesus I’m back down to 181 and I am POSITIVE I WILL see 179 by New Years Eve. I’m bringing my scale home with me over winter break so I can keep myself accountable.  I am SO focused right now on marathon training and what I’m putting into my body. I just want to walk around saying, “Not my chief, I’m in the...

Do you speak running?
What languages do you speak? If you’re reading this, it’s a safe bet that you speak English. Or at least American, which is like English only less so. Most common after that, I’m guessing, would be Spanish. Maybe you’re like me and can speak just enough French to suggest to someone that you all go to the beach, or to ask, “Where is my pencil?” I know that RW...

Bridesmaid-to-be!
Although I’m basking in the glow of single life I need to take time to celebrate one of my best friend’s engagements. She’s the first of my inner circle to be getting married*. ALL of my other 20 something friends are either single or dating - actually her finance proposed her on 30th birthday last week! I’ve only attended a handful of weddings in the past and this will...

My Run On The Treadmill, As I Imagine The Girl...
Another Thought Catalog Gem: By ANDREW LIPSTEIN 0:00. Look at him stretch. He stretches gracefully, as if he consumes every second with delight. But he stretches purposefully, as if he’s been here before. His running shorts says he enjoys freedom; their fade explains his passion. He must have run through rain and shine, through mountains and valleys. He must be a dominating force in bed. The...

3 guys with the same name
As much as my love life isn’t fitness related directly, it SO is indirectly. Since losing ~40 pounds I found myself dating pretty steadily from Aug to Nov of last year. November was when I started dating Wiley and we officially broke up in October. Well now that I’ve healed some, I decided to dip my toes back into the dating world. It’s turned into a circus as per usual and I...

FINALLY
I got on the scale today and saw a number I was pleased with. I’m thrilled to be able to end the year looking the way I started it. I had my ups and down over 2011 with my weight (and other areas of my life), but I’m excited to end the year strong and dive head first into 2012. I ate VERY well this weekend. I only had 1 small alcoholic drink and was too busy for any mindless eating....

UTRECHT, The Netherlands - Paralympic silver medalist Monique van der Vorst has miraculously become an able-bodied Olympic hopeful after a crash reversed her paralysis. Paralyzed from the hip down since she was 13, the 27-year-old handcyclist, who has just signed with the Rabobank women’s professional cycling team to compete as a top-class able-bodied athlete, was hit by a bicycle last year...

Running for Cookies
I ran a speedy 3 miles with my 4 legged personal trainer before heading off to a Christmas party/cookie exchange. DANGER. I indulged a bit, but I plan on distributing many of the sweet treats to people this weekend - including my hair dresser who is doing my hair tomorrow!  It’s so easy to avoid bad things on my own, but throw me into a social setting and it’s harder to keep...

Running gets me wet
This is about running in the rain. Sorry about the title, I couldn’t help myself. I still have the sense of humor of a 14 year old boy at times. I ran 3 miles in the rain with my friend Audra tonight, then we toweled off and did level 2 of shred. My level of wetness between rain and sweat is a new record! I have 6 miles tomorrow. 3-6-3 my Tues-Wed-Thurs for the next 2 months.

– Another gem from thought catalog that I found this morning, but related well to this evening. Wiley and I talked on the phone today - we’ve been texting semi-regularly as friends which has been good. He is a very special person to me and I’d hate not knowing what’s going on with...

Weekend in Review
I’ve been having writers block lately for some reason, hopefully it won’t last too long! So here is my weekend in bullet points.  Ate and drank pretty very well. Went on 2 different dates - one was hilariously tragic, the other was a 3rd date with a guy that I’m still on the fence about. Ran a 10K race (that was only 6 miles - boo) in under an hour. Went to a fabulous show...

Running Towards Change
A college friend of mine who I lost touch with has recently re-entered the social media world and joined the blogging world. She was in an emotionally abusive relationship with an alcoholic - they were engaged and living together, until this summer when we finally got the courage to leave.  She took to blogging as a form of self-therapy. She was always a runner, but really got serious about it...

Holy Sh!t It's December
Where has this year GONE?!?! It’s truly crazy how the older we get the faster time flies. 2011 has been a bumpy year for me, especially considering how badass 2010 was. I didn’t meet as many goals as I could have liked in terms of the scale, mileage, a new job etc. However I am determined to end 2011 on a good note.  I ran 92 miles last month and I’m set to run ~100 this...
